Overview

Recycle 1st is seeking a dedicated Standby Driver to join our team in Elsiesrivier, Western Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery and collection of goods to predetermined customers on specific routes, along with other driving tasks as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of vehicle tyres, lights, brakes, and fluids to ensure safe and cost-effective performance.
  • Maintain communication with the company during deliveries for updated instructions.
  • Document delivery accuracy and customer receipt of orders, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Keep vehicle maintenance records and comply with safety, security, and quality processes.
  • Maintain a clean driving record, free of violations and accidents.
  • Interact with customers professionally.
  • Collect, load, and offload recycling materials by hand.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Valid Code 10 Driver’s License
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
  • Matric (high school diploma)

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in transport
  • Familiarity with GPS devices or map applications
  • Knowledge of traffic regulations related to transport

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Sober habits and a clean driving record
  • Willingness to work weekends and public holidays if required
  • Ability to manage time and routes efficiently
  • Physical fitness to handle heavy lifting
  • Ability to work well within a team
