Overview:

The City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, through its Public Safety Department, is offering a comprehensive training programme to qualifying candidates who aspire to become Metropolitan Police Officers. Successful candidates will undergo an 18-month training period and, upon completion, be considered for permanent appointment within the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD).

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must:

Be a South African citizen.
Possess a Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or NQF Level 4).
Be a resident within the Johannesburg Metropolitan area (original proof of residence required).
Have no criminal record or conviction.
Allow biometric and background checks.
Hold a valid Code B Driver’s License (no learner’s licenses).
Be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
Be physically and mentally fit (medical certificate required).
Successfully complete a pre-training fitness assessment.
Be proficient in English.
Be willing to wear a uniform and carry a firearm.
Have no civil judgments related to fraud or corruption.
Be willing to undergo further vetting processes.

Positive attitude, patient, and able to work under pressure.
Willing to work shifts and in various weather conditions.

Terms of Training:

18-month structured training programme.
Includes theory, practical assessments, and adherence to Academy and RTMC policies.
A stipend will be paid during the training period.
Trainees will be considered for appointment as Metropolitan Police Officers upon successful completion.
