Job Overview
Phakisa Holdings (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Code 14 Driver to join our team in Mamelodi. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods and materials safely and efficiently using a heavy-duty truck. The driver must adhere to all road safety regulations, maintain vehicle upkeep, and ensure timely deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
–Driving and Delivery: Operate a Code 14 vehicle to transport goods, materials, or equipment to assigned locations.
–Route Planning: Plan and follow the most efficient delivery routes, optimizing fuel consumption while avoiding traffic delays.
–Vehicle Inspection: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck is in good working condition (checking brakes, tires, lights, and oil levels).
–Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, road regulations, and company safety protocols.
–Documentation: Maintain accurate delivery logs, vehicle inspection records, and fuel usage reports.
–Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers upon delivery to ensure satisfaction.
–Loading and Unloading: Assist in the loading and securing of cargo, ensuring safe transportation.
–Vehicle Maintenance: Keep the truck clean and well-maintained, reporting any mechanical issues or damage immediately.
–Problem-Solving: Handle unexpected challenges such as road closures, vehicle malfunctions, or delays by finding suitable solutions.
Requirements & Skills
–Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
–Valid Code 14 driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
-Previous experience as a Code 14 driver, particularly operating heavy-duty trucks, is preferred.
-Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and vehicle maintenance.
-Ability to effectively plan routes and manage delivery schedules.
-Physically capable of loading and unloading cargo, as well as standing, lifting, and bending for extended periods.
-Strong organizational and time-management skills.
–Good communication skills to interact with supervisors, colleagues, and customers.
-Must reside in Mamelodi.
