Overview:
Phakisa Holdings (Pty) Ltd is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Cleaner/Assistant Fitter to join our team in Nigel. This full-time role involves maintaining the cleanliness of industrial machinery and workspaces, as well as supporting senior fitters in assembling, repairing, and maintaining equipment. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in an industrial environment and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and productivity.
Responsibilities:
Cleaning Responsibilities:
- Industrial Equipment Cleaning:
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain industrial machinery, tools, and workstations to ensure a safe and productive environment.
- Remove dirt, grease, and other contaminants from mechanical equipment, ensuring machinery functions optimally and safely.
- Use appropriate cleaning products and equipment, including pressure washers, scrubbers, and vacuums, to clean heavy-duty machinery.
- Workshop and Facility Cleanliness:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the workshop, including floors, work surfaces, storage areas, and common spaces.
- Ensure that all hazardous materials are disposed of correctly, following safety protocols and regulations.
- Waste Management:
- Safely dispose of waste, including metal shavings, oils, and chemicals, in accordance with environmental guidelines.
Assistant Fitter Responsibilities:
- Support Fitting and Assembly:
- Assist senior fitters in assembling, installing, and repairing machinery and equipment used in industrial production.
- Help with the disassembly and cleaning of equipment during maintenance and repairs.
- Tool and Equipment Preparation:
- Prepare, clean, and organize tools, parts, and equipment needed for fitting tasks.
- Ensure all tools are in good working condition and report any damaged or malfunctioning tools to the supervisor.
- Maintenance Assistance:
- Assist with general maintenance tasks, including replacing worn-out parts, lubricating equipment, and checking machinery for performance issues.
- Help fitters perform preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and ensure equipment longevity.
- Site Support:
- Assist with general site upkeep, ensuring safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, safety barriers) is in place and functional.
- Support the team during installation projects and maintenance shutdowns.
Requirements and Skills:
- Education: Matric certificate.
- Experience: Previous experience in industrial cleaning or as an assistant fitter is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of industrial machinery and tools.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and proper handling of cleaning agents and hazardous materials.
- Physical Capability: Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in challenging industrial environments.
- Teamwork and Communication: Good communication skills for effective coordination with team members and supervisors.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning and maintenance.
- Reliability: Strong work ethic with punctuality and commitment to task completion.
