Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Casual Cashier to join their Cape Gate store. The ideal candidate will support frontline service by efficiently handling point-of-sale transactions and enhancing the customer shopping experience in line with company policies and high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
-Process customer purchases at the till point accurately and efficiently.
-Handle all forms of payments (cash, card, loyalty points, vouchers, etc.).
-Adhere to Dis-Chemβs customer service standards and procedures.
-Establish professional relationships with customers and report complaints or compliments.
-Monitor promotions and alert customers to in-store deals.
-Apply proper risk management and security procedures at checkout.
-Ensure all voids, refunds, and price changes are authorized.
-Accurately manage daily cash and perform drop safe procedures.
-Maintain confidentiality and alertness in cash management.
-Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance at the cashier station.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
-Grade 12 / Matric
-At least 6 months of experience in cashier or till operations
-Strong numerical skills
-Proficiency in MS Office
-Fluent in English (spoken and written)
-Basic customer service skills
-Willingness to work flexible retail hours
Advantageous:
-Proficiency in a third South African language
-Previous experience in a retail pharmacy or FMCG environment
