Dis-Chem Pharmacies is offering an exciting opportunity for someone eager to learn and join our team as a Dispensary Support Learner. This role aims to bring on board individuals who have the potential to successfully complete the basic pharmacist assistant course.
Throughout this learnership, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of various aspects within the pharmaceutical realm, focusing on dispensing while emphasizing the importance of practical on-the-job learning and maintaining high-quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Handling the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances.
- Assisting with call center scripts and managing patient service telephone inquiries.
- Providing health-related information to individuals, promoting well-being.
- Assisting with authorization processes for chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication under various schemes.
- Reporting on low or out-of-stock levels and identifying stock errors for the dispensary manager.
- Receiving dispensary stock in adherence to the company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Assisting in unpacking, arranging merchandise, and maintaining cleanliness in the dispensary and Over-The-Counter (OTC) shelves as directed by the responsible pharmacist.
- Carrying out any additional duties delegated by the Dispensary Manager.
- Ensuring accurate picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medication, being mindful of common dosages and crucial drug interactions.
- Verifying all medications for accuracy, with final approval and signature from a pharmacist.
- Following up with patients regarding script tracking reports and appointments, as per the dispensary manager’s instructions.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 qualification with Mathematics and either Life Science or Physical Science.
- Minimum average score of 50%.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in English and a second language (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Strong time management skills, ability to work under deadlines, and handle pressure while paying attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, including listening and customer service orientation.
- Problem-solving ability, teamwork, conflict management, leading by example, accountability, professional conduct, trustworthiness, and honesty.
- Competence in computer literacy and numerical skills.
