Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 2 cups milk
- ¼ cup melted butter
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 1 cup grated carrots
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp instant yeast
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.
- Add the melted butter and mix using your hands until incorporated.
- Stir in the grated carrots, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
- Gradually add the milk, mixing to form a dough. Continue kneading until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough to release the gas.
- Prepare your steaming cups or casserole dish by greasing the insides with butter or cooking oil.
- Fill the cups or dish halfway with the dough.
- In a large pot, add cold water and place the filled cups or dish inside. Cover with a lid.
- Steam the dombolo for 30 to 40 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a long skewer; if it comes out dry, the bread is cooked.
- Remove from heat and allow the steamed bread to cool slightly. Gently tap the bottom of the cups or dish to release the bread.
- Slice and serve with your favorite stew or salad.
Enjoy!
