Overview

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Messenger/Driver to support the Office of the Deputy National Commissioner: Crime Detection in Pretoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing courier services, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of documents and parcels. Additionally, the Messenger/Driver will assist with general office tasks, such as maintaining delivery logs and photocopying documents.

This position requires excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and effective communication. The candidate must be able to handle tight deadlines and be willing to work extended hours when necessary. Maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling documents is critical for success in this role. The Messenger/Driver will also assist in ensuring proper use and maintenance of logistical resources, including vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide courier services, delivering documents and parcels for the Office of the Deputy National Commissioner: Crime Detection.
  • Maintain accurate logs and registers of all documents and items delivered and received.
  • Assist with general office tasks, including photocopying documents as required.
  • Ensure the efficient use and maintenance of logistical resources, including vehicles.
  • Organize and distribute documents within the office, ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Adhere to safety and security protocols when handling sensitive documents.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure the smooth flow of document handling and courier services.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 qualification (Grade 12 is an advantage).
  • Valid light vehicle driver’s license.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when required.
  • Proficiency in at least two official languages, with English as one of them.
  • South African citizenship.
  • No criminal record or pending criminal cases.
  • Applicants will undergo security vetting, including fingerprint verification.
