Overview

TB HIV Care is seeking a dedicated HAST Counsellor Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation services for teams involved in community outreach and clinical services within the district. This role includes mobilizing clients for HIV and TB services, offering counselling, and assisting with tracing and linking patients to care. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the district team to achieve the 95-95-95 targets, ensuring that no one is left behind in the fight against HIV and TB.


Responsibilities

-Safely transport teams and equipment to various locations as required.

-Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to support outreach activities.

-Conduct HIV counselling and TB screening for targeted groups such as men, adolescent boys, and children under 19.

-Assist in tracing patients who have interrupted treatment (LTFU).

-Promote and distribute HIV self-screening kits (HIVSS) during community outreach.

-Conduct daily vehicle inspections, report defects, and ensure vehicle maintenance.

  • Maintain client confidentiality and uphold professionalism when interacting with clients and healthcare professionals.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, road ordinances, and internal policies.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance tasks and comply with the organization’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support any additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Standard 10) is essential.
  • Tertiary qualification is advantageous.
  • Valid Code 10 EB or C1 driver’s license with a Public Driver’s Permit (PDP) is mandatory.
  • Advanced driving certification is an added advantage.
  • HIV Counselling and Testing Certificate is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of driving experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate in English; proficiency in isiXhosa is a plus.
  • Clear criminal record.
