Job Description:
RCL Foods is seeking a dynamic and people-oriented Feeder Driver to join our baking business unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for tasks related to the loading, offloading, and transportation of bread, crates, and confectionery between the bakery and EMPANGENI depot. This role is based in Durban and reports to the Fleet Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- Grade 12
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s License
- Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
Skills:
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and communication)
- Strong numeracy skills
- Ability to pull a drawbar trailer
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years driving experience with a Code 14 license
Duties & Responsibilities:
Dress and Vehicle Duties:
- Maintain a clean vehicle to uphold high hygiene standards
- Ensure the driving compartment is clean and safe according to Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements
- Regular vehicle checks according to the company checklist
- Adherence to statutory rules of the road for safety
- Immediate reporting of theft, damage, accidents, or hijackings to the Transport Supervisor/Fleet Controller
Stock and Loading:
- Verify safe loading of the vehicle to ensure road safety and product integrity
- Driver assistance with offloading and loading
Van Assistants:
- Ensure the van assistant is present at work; report absence to route controller
- Report any performance issues with van assistant to the supervisor
Deliveries:
- Collect returns and crates from the depot
- Transport products, personnel, materials, and equipment between the bakery and depot
- Perform crate recovery tasks when required
Transactional Duties:
- Take necessary precautions to avoid risks to company property
- Accurately complete and handle transactional documentation, including invoices, delivery notes, loading schedules, crate control documents, vehicle log sheets, petrol slips, vehicle checklists, and related forms
