Position Overview:
We are currently seeking four diligent and experienced Safety Officers (LDC) to join our team at the Sasol site in Secunda. The Safety Officers will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, implementing safety protocols, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs to promote a safe working environment.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for preventive measures.
- Provide safety guidance and support to site personnel, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to occupational health and safety.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- SAMTRAC or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry, preferably in a petrochemical or heavy industrial environment.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Certification in First Aid and Fire Safety would be an advantage.
- Valid driver’s license.
