Position: Millwright (Ref: MNM:11042024)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct maintenance tasks on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment safely to ensure plant availability and equipment reliability.
Main Tasks Include:
- Attend to all mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical breakdowns.
- Regularly inspect equipment.
- Carry out fault-finding and problem-solving on equipment.
- Perform regular maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Report on equipment conditions, advise management on electrical and mechanical problems, and recommend activities to minimize breakdowns.
- Interpret deviations recorded and rectify them.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities according to Plant Safety Regulations, preventative maintenance plans, and maintenance procedures.
- Investigate and analyze the cause and effect of breakdowns on equipment.
- Understand basic hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication.
- Conduct basic rigging and assist stage crew where necessary.
- Ensure completion of all supporting documentation within required timeframes and specified formats.
- Analyze proposed modifications, provide input regarding implementation of ideas, and carry out modifications within required timeframes.
- Troubleshoot DCS, PLCs, and (AC and DC) drives.
- Identify areas for quality and safety improvement.
- Participate in improvement programs and initiatives.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Comply with relevant legislative requirements and standards.
- Ensure maintenance of quality standards and address customer requirements.
- Attend to equipment care and personal safety.
- Read, interpret, and understand electrical and basic mechanical drawings.
- Promote environmental and safety awareness regarding the potential impact of activities, processes, and materials utilized.
Qualifying Attributes:
- Qualifications: Qualified Millwright with Trade Certificate. This qualification could have been obtained through either a formal apprenticeship (section 13) or Section 28 of the Manpower Training Act.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field post Apprenticeship.
- Skills: Fault-finding and problem-solving skills, safety and quality consciousness, customer-oriented, coordination and coaching skills, ability to work independently and function well within a team.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of the OHS Act (safety legislation) is essential.
