The Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme (MFMIP) is a structured professional training and work experience program. Its goal is to give high-quality training and hands-on experience in all areas of a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office. The MFMIP is governed by the Municipal Finance Management Act, Act 56 of 2003, and the reforms that went along with it.

The training in the Program is organized in a way that makes sense and builds on the skills and knowledge gained in university.

Responsibilities:

According to the Municipality, these are the most important training areas that it will think about when making a training action plan for MFMIP:

  • Managing strategies; • Putting budgets into action; and • Managing performance.
  • Keeping records and managing risks.
  • Lawmaking and government.
  • Planning for costs and investments.
  • Project management and IT help for the city.
  • PPP and SCM.
  • Dealing with people.

Requirements:

  • Matric or Grade 12
  • Bachelor’s degree or national diploma with majors in any of the following:
  1. Accounting,
  2. Money, 3. Economics, and 4. Risk Management
  3. or checking
  • The person applying must not have a job.
    This person must be between the ages of 21 and 35.
    •The candidate must live in the Chris Hani District Municipality; original proof of address stamped and signed by a Ward Councilor or Traditional Leader must be included.
