AECI – Code 14 Truck Driver with PDP

Overview:

AECI Plant Health is seeking a dedicated and professional Truck Driver to join our team in Paarl. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods between our depots, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This role requires a highly responsible individual who can work independently, maintain the vehicle in excellent condition, and uphold the company’s safety standards.

Responsibilities:

Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after deliveries. Report any defects and ensure the vehicle is clean, both inside and out. Park the vehicle in the designated area and lock it securely at the end of each day. Notify the Team Leader when the vehicle requires servicing and assist in reporting breakdowns.

Compliance: Drive the vehicle in accordance with the law, assist local authorities in emergencies, and ensure all necessary documentation (transfer documents, delivery notes, hazchem documents, TREM cards) is in order and signed by receiving depots.

Deliveries: Make an average of one delivery trip per day to various depots. Ensure the load is securely positioned and matches the transfer documents. Assist with loading and offloading and ensure timely delivery to customers. Handle any delivery discrepancies professionally and ensure they are documented.

Fuel Management: Responsible for the vehicle’s petrol card and refuelling as needed.

Company Cellphone: Manage the company-provided cellphone responsibly.

Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in distribution, production, or warehousing as a Heavy-Duty (Code 14) Driver.
  • Driving Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience driving heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Licenses & Certifications:
    • Valid Code 14 (heavy-duty) driver’s license.
    • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
    • Valid Hazchem driving permit.
    • Forklift driver’s license and the ability to operate a forklift.
  • Health & Safety: Must be medically fit to drive both heavy-duty vehicles and forklifts. Strong understanding of hazardous chemicals road transportation and other relevant Acts.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work accurately under pressure.
    • Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
    • Deadline-driven with basic computer literacy.
    • Safety-oriented mindset.
