Position Summary

AFGRI invites applications for an engaging apprenticeship program at multiple branches across South Africa. We seek dynamic, self-motivated individuals with technical aptitude who aim to become qualified Artisans. This three-year in-service training program leads to qualification as a Tractor or Earthmoving Mechanic.

Program Details

Duration: 3 years

Initial Probation Period: 6 months (either party can withdraw without consequences)

Training: Practical training, N-subjects through distance learning at a college, and product training at the John Deere Training Facility in Boksburg and other suppliers.

Cost: No training costs for courses passed; failed courses must be retaken at the apprentice’s expense.

Contract: 3-year contract with a potential work-back period equal to the training duration, not exceeding 4 years.

    Responsibilities

    -Train as a Mechanic/Technician

    -Repair and maintain relevant equipment

    -Manage stock control

    -Provide customer service

    -Perform general workplace duties

      Requirements

      • Education:
      • N2 subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Diesel Trade Theory, plus one of Industrial Electronics, Engineering/Technical Drawing, or Motor Trade Theory.
      • Skills:
        • Valid driver’s license
        • Strong communication and administrative skills
        • Computer literacy
      • Behavioral Competencies:
        • Highly motivated and detail-oriented
        • Team player
        • Goal-oriented and deadline-driven
      • Alternatively, a Matric Certificate with passes in Mathematics (not Literacy), Technical Mathematics (not Literacy), Physical Science, Technical Science, or Engineering Graphics and Design.
