Overview

Anova Health Institute NPC is looking for a Peer Educator to support and engage with clients as part of our harm reduction program. This role is ideal for a compassionate individual with strong communication skills and a commitment to community health. The successful candidate will assist in client recruitment, provide harm reduction information, and collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure holistic support for clients.

Key Responsibilities

-Recruit and introduce at least 80 clients monthly to program services.

-Conduct risk assessments and refer clients to Nurses, HTS, Linkage Officers, Advocacy Officers, and Social Auxiliary Workers.

-Provide harm reduction information and resources to a minimum of 80 clients each month.

-Manage and track the cohort’s service access, reporting progress to the coordinator.

-Identify at least two new outreach sites each month and update mapping tools.

-Participate in social debriefing and provide feedback to the coordinator monthly.

-Attend psychosocial counseling sessions and report feedback monthly.

-Complete any other tasks as directed by the line manager.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • Grade 12

Skills

-Strong numeracy and literacy skills

-Ability to build trust and communicate effectively with individuals involved in drug use

-Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards

-Reliability and punctuality

Experience

-Prior knowledge of HIV/AIDS is an advantage.

-A recognized HIV counseling certificate is preferred.
