Overview:

KFC Lesotho is seeking a Bookkeeper to accurately record, maintain, and manage the financial transactions of Baobab Lesotho. This role involves preparing balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring accurate recording of purchases, expenses, sales revenue, invoices, and payments. The Bookkeeper plays a key role in financial data management and supports the Finance Manager in ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Financial Records: Accurately record transactions, including purchases, sales, expenses, and payments.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Update and maintain the general ledger to reflect the organization’s financial status.
  • Account Reconciliation: Ensure accuracy by reconciling accounts and addressing discrepancies.
  • Trial Balance Management: Maintain trial balance through ledger reconciliation for financial accuracy.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Prepare reports in line with local laws and organizational standards.
  • Monitor Budget Variances: Identify and report variances with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Ad-Hoc Support: Assist in finance-related tasks and interventions.
  • Supplier and Client Interaction: Resolve queries from suppliers, debtors, and stakeholders professionally.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Preferred Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
  • Experience:
    • Previous bookkeeping experience, preferably in Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) or similar industries.
    • Knowledge of financial systems, ledger management, and reconciliations.
    • Understanding of financial reporting standards and local regulatory requirements.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Numerical & Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data with precision.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets (Excel), and email communication. Knowledge of accounting software is a plus.
  • Planning & Organizing: Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with high accuracy.
  • Change Management: Willingness to adapt to new systems and processes.
