Overview

A prestigious university in Gaborone is seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Manager to join its Information Systems Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and team management while ensuring continuous innovation and compliance with institutional goals.

Qualifications & Experience

–Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

-Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator, CCNA, CISSP, CEH, CISM are an advantage.

-Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

-Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, security protocols, and software applications.

Key Responsibilities

-Lead and manage IT teams effectively.

-Oversee IT infrastructure management and network security operations.

-Implement cybersecurity strategies to protect institutional data and systems.

-Manage IT-related projects and ensure timely completion.

-Provide IT support and troubleshooting for faculty and staff.

-Ensure compliance with security standards and industry regulations.

-Promote continuous improvement and innovation in IT processes.

-Oversee budget management for the department.

–Expertise in Networking Security, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems.

-Strong understanding of cybersecurity threats, attack vectors, and incident response.
