As part of our commitment to delivering reliable power, we seek a highly skilled and motivated Operations Manager to oversee the operational efficiency of our power station at Morupule A.

Position Overview

The Operations Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling the power station’s operations to achieve set performance targets. This role ensures optimal plant availability, technical efficiency, environmental compliance, and adherence to safety standards while managing costs and operational risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the activities of the Operations Department, allocating roles and responsibilities while providing technical advice to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the power station.
  • Analyze plant performance data to develop asset management plans and improve existing asset management strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to ensure regulatory and corporate compliance.
  • Oversee departmental projects that impact power generation availability, ensuring alignment with the Generation Project Governance Strategy.
  • Develop and manage contract management tools for the Operations Department, ensuring compliance with key deliverables.
  • Prepare and manage the Operations Department budget, ensuring adherence to approved financial limits.
  • Assess the feasibility of proposed solutions and lead the implementation of approved development programs within the operational framework.
  • Develop and implement a Business Model for the Operations Department to support the Corporate Strategy.
  • Manage client relationships and ensure service delivery in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, and Management Systems (SHEMS) policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:
    • A Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
    • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Professional Engineer is mandatory.
    • A postgraduate qualification or additional management qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of eight (8) years of post-qualification experience, with at least three (3) years in a management capacity.
    • Knowledge and experience in the electricity industry, particularly in power generation and power plant operations, will be an added advantage.
