Overview:
Absa Bank Botswana is seeking a knowledgeable and results-driven Governance Lead to join its Central Processing Centre. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring quality assurance activities to ensure the effective delivery of operational plans. The successful candidate will play a critical role in identifying risks, assessing controls, and maintaining governance standards in line with the bank’s strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage the implementation of quality assurance processes across operational units.
  • Support the Audit Manager in identifying and testing risk areas through active participation in planning and assessment activities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and document associated controls within Absa’s operational processes.
  • Build deep institutional knowledge of Absa’s business areas to strengthen risk evaluation and governance outcomes.
  • Guide and support audit peers by sharing insights, best practices, and technical knowledge.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and audit teams throughout all assignments.
  • Lead and maintain continuous engagement with stakeholders to promote risk awareness and encourage open dialogue on governance challenges.
  • Apply professional scepticism and critical thinking to ensure accurate documentation and evidence of risks and control weaknesses.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Financial Risk Management, or a related discipline is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, quality assurance, or internal audit within a financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of operational and governance frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven relationship-building skills with internal teams and external auditors.
  • A high level of professional integrity, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
