Overview:

Morupule Coal Mine is seeking a qualified Training Officer – Beneficiation to provide, facilitate, and coordinate technical training for the Beneficiation Department. The successful candidate will focus on training internal staff, conducting skills assessments, and ensuring compliance with industry standards to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal staff training in line with the company’s annual training plan and budget.
  • Prepare and submit training levy rebate applications to HRDC for eligible training interventions.
  • Perform training needs analysis by assessing systems, processes, and individual development plans.
  • Develop and recommend training objectives for staff improvement.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and implement corrective actions.
  • Design and implement assessment methods to measure staff competence.
  • Develop and prepare training aids, lecture notes, presentations, and demonstrations aligned with industry standards.
  • Conduct trainee reviews and provide timely feedback to employees and stakeholders.
  • Create and implement development plans for individuals and teams.
  • Drive Performance Management processes to align training with business strategies.
  • Facilitate and coordinate Learnership Programs, including:
    • Graduate Development Program
    • Artisan Development Program
    • Internships, Attachments, Sponsorships, and Apprenticeships
  • Guide and support job evaluation processes, including job description development and grading.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies in all training activities.

Requirements:

  • Education: Diploma in Extraction Metallurgy or a related qualification.
  • Certification:
    • Assessor & Moderator / Trainer Development Diploma (Mandatory).
    • Supervisory Development Program (Required).
    • Full registration with Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA) as a Trainer.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 4 years of post-qualification experience in the beneficiation field.
    • At least 2 years at a Training Officer level.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of training methodologies and competency-based assessments.
    • Familiarity with SHE Management Systems, including ISO 45001: 2018 and ISO 14001: 2015.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Must be medically and physically fit to work in an underground coal mining environment.
    • Ability to meet demanding schedules and work in a high-pressure setting.
