Overview:

Bango Liquor (Pty) Ltd is seeking a reliable and customer-oriented Liquor Store Cashier to manage transactions and support daily retail operations. This role requires excellent customer service, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of legal compliance—particularly age verification and alcohol sales regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

-Operate POS system to process cash, credit, and debit transactions

-Issue receipts, handle change, refunds, and exchanges

-Verify IDs to comply with alcohol sale regulations

-Refuse sales to underage individuals professionally

-Greet and assist customers courteously

-Provide information on products, promotions, and policies

-Address customer complaints or escalate to the Store Manager

-Balance the cash register at shift start and end

-Maintain accurate transaction records and ensure cash security

-Support restocking and upkeep of the checkout area

-Keep promotional displays tidy and up to date

-Follow internal policies and legal protocols related to alcohol sales

-Work with team members to improve store efficiency and service


Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • BGCSE (Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education)

Experience:

  • Previous cashier or retail experience in a liquor store or similar setting is an advantage

Technical Skills:

-Proficient in POS systems and basic computer usage

-Strong numeracy and transaction-handling accuracy

-Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills

-Ability to work quickly and efficiently in high-traffic environments

-Strong attention to detail and adherence to legal requirements


Working Conditions:

-May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays

-Must be able to stand for long periods and do light physical tasks (e.g., restocking)

-Must be comfortable working in a customer-facing retail setting with safety protocols
