Overview

The North East District Council invites applications from qualified Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs (MLG&TA) employees only for the position of Senior Office Secretary. This is an internal re-advertisement open exclusively to public officers serving within the Ministry, and the position is tenable in Masunga.

Purpose of the Job

To provide comprehensive secretarial and office management services to Deputy Heads of Departments or Deputy Directors performing managerial and administrative duties.


Responsibilities

-Screen and direct clients to the appropriate offices.

-Type letters, reports, savingrams, and minutes in accordance with set standards.

-Manage the office diary and oversee daily administrative operations.

-Supervise and manage the performance of junior staff.

-Retrieve and process data for preparing official information and reports.

-Provide administrative support within divisions, units, or departments.

-Undertake any additional duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications and Experience

i. Direct Entry:

  • National Diploma or Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies (NDSS/HNDSS), Business Skills, Office Management (BOM), or Office Management and Technology (BOMT) or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in secretarial services

ii. Promotion Consideration:

  • Serving officers with at least two years of experience at the level of Office Secretary
