Position Overview
Premium Resources is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mine Exploration Geologist to join the team at the Selebi Mines Project. Reporting to the Exploration Manager, this role is central to executing underground and surface drilling programs while ensuring safety, data integrity, and geological accuracy.
The ideal candidate will be a results-driven professional with over 20 years of experience, including significant underground work, and a proven track record in high-grade metamorphic terrains and magmatic nickel-copper sulphide environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in and lead weekly safety meetings and conduct regular site visits (underground and surface).
- Supervise drill safety and report deviations.
- Monitor LithoGeoChem sampling in high-grade metamorphic Archean terrane.
- Review assay results and confirm QAQC status.
- Import geotechnical and geological data into Fusion and drillhole data into Datamine for interpretation.
- Interpret 3D geology, grade distributions, and structures.
- Mentor and supervise core logging teams to ensure consistency and adherence to QAQC protocols.
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly drill production reports.
- Oversee Geophysical BHEM and Surface EM teams.
- Assist in exploration budgeting, scheduling, and procurement.
- Liaise with suppliers and service providers for field operations.
- Manage team performance, review KPIs, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the Exploration Manager.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- B.Sc. in Geology; M.Sc. will be an added advantage
- Registered with a professional organization; knowledge of NI 43-101 standards preferred
- 20 years’ experience in geology, with at least 5 years in a senior role
- Minimum 5 years underground experience
- Proven experience in managing active drilling programs and integrating geology, structure, and geophysics for exploration targeting
- Strong understanding of deep hole drilling, directional drilling, wedging, downhole gyro, and borehole EM surveys
- Experience in magmatic nickel-copper sulphide environments is highly desirable
Technical Competencies
- Fluent in English with excellent technical report writing skills
- Proficient in Datamine Studio, Fusion, DHLogger, ARCGIS, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Skilled in structural logging of oriented drill core and use of televiewer data in building 3D geological models
- Strong project management and performance management skills
