Overview:

The Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BoMRA) is a forward-looking organization tasked with the regulation of human and veterinary medicines, medical devices, complementary medicines, and cosmetics. BoMRA fosters a culture of excellence, transparency, and collaboration. We are currently seeking an experienced and visionary Business Development & International Partnerships Manager to lead the organization’s global engagement, strategic partnerships, and revenue-generation initiatives.


Position Purpose:

Reporting to senior leadership, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic business plans, establishing international partnerships, identifying funding opportunities, and supporting regulatory harmonization and capacity-building efforts. The role supports BoMRA’s mission of ensuring access to safe, effective, and quality medical products while strengthening its financial and international footprint.


Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Funding:

-Develop and implement business plans with measurable goals for growth and sustainability.

-Identify and pursue new revenue-generating opportunities and technical assistance services.

-Secure funding through collaboration with international agencies, development partners, and donor organizations.

International Partnerships:

-Build strategic alliances with global health organizations, regulatory agencies, and regional bodies.

-Represent BoMRA in international forums and facilitate regulatory cooperation across borders.

-Develop and manage frameworks for international collaboration and regulatory harmonization.

Regulatory Harmonization & Capacity Building:

-Lead the agency’s involvement in regional and international harmonization initiatives.

-Coordinate training and technical assistance programs to build staff capacity.

-Promote the adoption of international best practices to enhance BoMRA’s regulatory maturity.

Policy Advocacy & Strategic Support:

-Contribute to policy development supporting international engagement and business expansion.

-Provide strategic advice on global regulatory trends, risks, and opportunities.

-Monitor and report on the progress and impact of international projects and partnerships.

Stakeholder Engagement:

-Build and maintain relationships with funding agencies, regulators, public-private partnerships, and relevant stakeholders.

-Design business models and proposals to ensure financial sustainability and growth of the Authority.


Minimum Requirements:

-Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Public Health, or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).

-Minimum 8 years of experience in business development or international partnerships, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.

-Demonstrated experience working with donor agencies, regulatory authorities, or global health organizations.

-Familiarity with regulatory harmonization initiatives and capacity-building programs is highly desirable.


Skills and Competencies:

-Strong leadership and negotiation capabilities.

-Proven project management and stakeholder engagement experience.

-High-level analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

-Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

-Excellent written and verbal communication.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and project management software.

-Willingness to travel internationally as required.
