Position: Temporary Technical Officer (Surveys) – C4 (x2 Positions)
Location: Ngwato Land Board – Shoshong & Bobonong Sub Land Boards
Closing Date: 25 April 2025
Overview:
The Technical Officer (Surveys) will support land management activities through fieldwork, mapping, and spatial data collection. The role involves producing maps and plans, investigating land issues, and supporting the development of land information systems.
Responsibilities:
-Carry out fieldwork to define property boundaries and produce requisite land plans.
-Prepare plans for disputed land and submit for Board resolution.
-Conduct surveys for topographic maps using aerial photography and GPS.
-File, retrieve, and supply maps and diagrams to clients and staff.
-Update maps and plans with new information and corrections.
-Select and manage surveying equipment, ensuring proper use and care.
-Investigate and recommend decisions on wayleave applications.
-Provide budgetary input for the surveying unit.
-Identify and physically demarcate plots approved by the Land Board.
-Investigate development control matters in line with land regulations.
-Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements & Skills:
- Qualifications: Diploma in Geomatics or a related field.
- Experience: No prior experience required.
- Skills:
- Practical knowledge of surveying instruments and GIS tools
- Strong map reading and spatial analysis skills
- Good communication and fieldwork readiness
- Ability to work independently and accurately
