Position Overview
Orange Botswana is seeking a meticulous and proactive Fixed Assets Officer to join the Finance Department. Reporting to the Fixed Assets Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s fixed asset portfolio, ensuring proper documentation, accurate allocation of costs, and compliance with internal controls and financial regulations.
This role plays a key part in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting audit and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation for all fixed assets, including acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
- Conduct regular verification and tagging of all fixed assets.
- Collaborate with the IT and Controlling departments to ensure accurate allocation of asset costs.
- Prepare and update fixed asset schedules for month-end and year-end financial closings.
- Reconcile income statement and balance sheet accounts related to fixed assets monthly.
- Receive and capture creditor invoices related to asset purchases and disposals, verifying compliance with purchase orders, delivery notes, and original supporting documents.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of accounting principles related to fixed assets, depreciation, and asset valuation.
- Ability to conduct physical asset verifications and ensure accurate asset tagging.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking skills.
- Effective communication and ability to collaborate with various departments.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in working with ERP systems is essential.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Part qualification in professional certifications such as BICA, ACCA, or CIMA will be an added advantage.
- 2–4 years’ experience in fixed asset management, accounting, or related financial roles, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
- Experience with ERP systems is essential.
