Overview:

Safari Distributors is seeking a seasoned, visionary executive to join our leadership team as the Head of Operations (Managing Director). This high-level role offers the opportunity to shape and execute strategic business initiatives for a globally recognized FMCG brand with a strong presence across African markets.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Team Management

-Lead, mentor, and manage high-performing teams

-Drive achievement of strategic goals, budgets, and organizational excellence

-Foster a culture of performance, development, and accountability

2. Strategic Business Development

  • Spearhead the design and execution of long-term strategies
  • Align operations with global best practices to maximize growth

3. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with partners, suppliers, authorities, and other key stakeholders
  • Ensure alignment between stakeholder interests and company strategy

4. Financial Oversight & Commercial Management

  • Manage the company’s financial performance, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth
  • Oversee investment decisions and risk management

5. Operational Excellence

  • Assess, optimize, and ensure efficiency across policies, systems, and operations

6. Sales Execution & Market Growth

  • Drive sales initiatives and strategic execution for expansion in the African market
  • Apply world-class sales practices to achieve market penetration and customer satisfaction

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive Experience:
    Minimum of 20 years in the FMCG sector, with exposure to global brands (e.g., Beiersdorf) and a strong track record in executing operational best practices.
  • Commercial Acumen:
    Deep understanding of financial, strategic, and logistics functions. Proven ability to manage business operations effectively.
  • Leadership Expertise:
    Successful history of leading large teams, managing change, and executing senior leadership strategies.
  • Team Development:
    Skilled in mentoring, guiding, and implementing team-building strategies in multicultural environments.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills:
    Ability to engage with internal teams and external global/local stakeholders with influence and clarity.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
    Strategic thinking with the ability to drive performance improvement and business efficiency.

Educational Qualification:

  • MBA or Equivalent Degree in Business Administration or related field is required.
  • Must demonstrate strong negotiating, influencing, and decision-making capabilities.
