Khoemacau Copper Mine, in partnership with JCHX Mining Management Co., Ltd., invites suitably qualified and safety-driven individuals to apply for the position of Underground Safety Officer. JCHX is a globally recognised mining contractor with more than 28 years of experience across Asia, Europe, and Africa. With operations in over 40 projects and a commitment to Zero Harm, we are now seeking to strengthen our underground mining safety team at Khoemacau.
Basic Function of the Position:
The Underground Safety Officer will be responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of health and safety programs in the underground mining environment. The role is key to promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
-Conduct regular safety inspections and audits within the underground mine
-Promote and uphold a workplace culture of safety and Zero Harm
-Investigate incidents, near-misses, and participate in risk assessments
-Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher training sessions
-Maintain accurate safety records and documentation in line with statutory requirements
-Monitor compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and internal safety procedures
Requirements and Competencies:
-A recognized qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
-Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mining safety, preferably in an underground environment
-Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and mining safety practices
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to train and influence personnel across all levels of the organization
