Overview:

Morupule Coal Mine is seeking a skilled Artisan – Diesel Mechanic to execute the installation, preventative and corrective maintenance, and modification of equipment within the mining environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and availability of mining equipment by performing routine inspections, troubleshooting faults, and conducting necessary repairs.

Responsibilities:

-Maintain equipment using appropriate maintenance technologies to optimize performance and reliability.

-Verify and update the planned maintenance schedule, recommending necessary adjustments.

-Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to identify areas needing attention.

-Assess and report spare parts, labor, tools, and time requirements to the supervisor.

-Perform scheduled and non-scheduled installations, repairs, and overhauls in compliance with engineering standards.

-Provide feedback on completed tasks to ensure accurate equipment maintenance history records.

-Obtain necessary permits and perform risk assessments before starting work.

-Assist in developing work schedules based on maintenance needs.

-Complete all administrative functions accurately to maintain a clear audit trail.

-Implement safety, health, and environmental procedures within the designated area.

-Identify and apply innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency.

-Suggest and incorporate cost-saving initiatives into department budgets.

Requirements:

• Education: O’level/BGCSE plus National Craft Certificate (NCC) in Heavy Plant Mechanics or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in diesel mechanics, OR
  • Completion of the Artisan Development Program (ADP) in the relevant trade.
• Other Requirements:
  • Valid Class B Driver’s License.
  • Strong understanding of SHE Management Systems, including ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001:2015.
  • Medically and physically fit to work in an underground coal mining environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding schedules.
