Overview:
Morupule Coal Mine is seeking a qualified Training Officer – Mining to provide, facilitate, and coordinate technical training for the Mining Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing workforce skills, ensuring compliance with training requirements, and driving performance management within the department.
Responsibilities:
-Conduct internal staff training in line with the company’s annual training plan and budget.
-Prepare and submit training levy rebate applications to HRDC for eligible training interventions.
-Perform training needs analysis to identify skill gaps and recommend development strategies.
-Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of training programs, providing feedback and corrective action where necessary.
-Design and implement assessment methods and tools to measure staff competence.
-Develop and prepare training aids, lecture notes, presentations, and demonstrations aligned with industry standards.
-Conduct trainee reviews and provide timely feedback to employees and relevant stakeholders.
-Develop individual and team development plans to enhance workforce competency.
-Drive Performance Management processes within the department to align HR processes with business strategy.
- Facilitate and coordinate Learnership Programs, including:
- Graduate Development Program
- Artisan Development Program
- Internships, Attachments, Sponsorships, and Apprenticeships
- Guide and support line managers in job evaluation, job description development, and grading of jobs.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental policies in all training activities.
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related qualification.
- Certification:
- Assessor & Moderator / Trainer Development Diploma (Mandatory).
- Supervisory Development Program (Required).
- Full registration with Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA) as a Trainer.
- Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of post-qualification experience in the mining industry.
- At least 2 years at a Training Officer level.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of training methodologies and competency-based assessments.
- Familiarity with SHE Management Systems, including ISO 45001: 2018 and ISO 14001: 2015.
- Other Requirements:
- Must be medically and physically fit to work in an underground coal mining environment.
- Willingness to work in high-pressure, demanding schedules.
