Overview
The Kanye District Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified citizens of Botswana for the position of Plant Operator I – B2, as per Vacancy Circular Number 4 of 2025. This role involves operating and maintaining Council plant and machinery used in various construction and maintenance works across the district.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary Scale: B2 (P77,184 – P91,344 per annum)
- Leave: 20 working days per annum
- Benefits:
- Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 80%, Employee pays 20%)
- Contributory Pension Fund Scheme (Government contributes 15%, Employee contributes 5%)
Key Responsibilities
-Operate and maintain Council plant machinery including Grader, Roller, Tractor Loader Backhoe, and Bulldozer
-Perform daily maintenance checks and report faults
-Maintain logbooks and records of equipment usage
-Conduct excavation, bush clearing, grading, compacting, and other plant-based operations
-Ensure the safety and proper use of tools and equipment
-Perform wheel puncture repairs and assist with plant accessory fittings
-Supervise subordinates and guide daily operational activities
-Load and offload equipment and perform duties as assigned by management
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Requirements:
- Possession of Class H driving license
- Ability to operate at least four types of construction plant machinery
- At least 2 years’ relevant experience as a Plant Operator II at B3 salary scale
