Overview

The North East District Council invites applications from suitably qualified Botswana citizens for the position of Principal Housing Officer I. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate housing services, with a focus on implementing the Self Help Housing Agency (SHHA) programme and managing the Housing Division to ensure community housing needs are addressed effectively.


Purpose of the Role

To coordinate and supervise the implementation of the SHHA programme and manage all functions within the Housing Division.


Key Responsibilities

-Plan and coordinate all functions of the Housing Division.

-Supervise the implementation of the Self Help Housing programme to ensure compliance with national policies and legislation.

-Assess community housing needs and develop appropriate self-help interventions.

-Provide professional housing advice to the Council and key stakeholders.

-Oversee the provision of services to SHHA plots in accordance with the SHHA Policy.

-Perform other related duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in Housing Management and Development or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant work experience
  • Must have served at least at the level of Principal Housing Officer II – D3 scale, or equivalent experience from the Private Sector or Parastatal

Benefits

  • Medical Aid Scheme: Optional contributory; 50% paid by Government, 50% by employee
  • Pension Scheme: Government contributes 15%, employee contributes 5%
