Overview:

Lobatse Town Council invites applications from suitably qualified Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs employees for the position of Senior Clerk of Council. This is an internal advert aimed at experienced public officers who are ready to take the next step in their careers by managing and coordinating the activities of the Recording Sections within the Council.


Salary Scale:

  • D4 (P255,948 – P296,184) per annum

Leave:

  • 30 working days per annum

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of six (6) years relevant work experience
  • At least two (2) years must have been served as Clerk of Council I at C1 scale

Benefits:

  • Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme: Government pays 50%, employee pays 50%
  • Pension Scheme: Government contributes 15%, employee contributes 5% of basic salary

Main Purpose of the Job:

To direct, manage, and coordinate the operations of the Recording Sections of Lobatse Town Council.


Key Responsibilities:

-Analyze trends and issues raised during Council meetings and advise the Chief Executive

-Supervise and guide subordinates in accordance with Council standards

-Research and draft speeches for Council Mayor/Chairman

-Collate documentation for Council sessions based on the agenda and ensure all Councillors are adequately prepared

-Record and produce proceedings of Full Council and Committee meetings

-Prepare and clear agendas for Council and Committee meetings

-Conduct research on queries, motions, and questions raised by Councillors

-Perform other duties as assigned by management
