Purpose of the Role:

The Sport Development Manager (Technical) will lead the implementation of BAA’s national coach and athlete development programmes. This role focuses on building sustainable athletics structures at club and national levels. Key responsibilities include coaching development, competition delivery, talent identification, and execution of the BAA strategic plan.


Key Responsibilities:

-Develop and execute national athlete and coach development programmes

-Lead coaching, training, and competition framework design and implementation

-Oversee elite team selection and compliance with international standards

-Promote athletics participation and raise public awareness

-Build strategic partnerships with stakeholders, clubs, and partners

-Implement Safe Sport and Anti-Doping policies

-Monitor and manage BAA facilities and infrastructure

-Manage departmental budgeting and human capital development

-Maintain accurate databases of athletes, coaches, and officials


Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

-Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science, Sport Administration, or equivalent

-Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage

-Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in sport development or administration

-In-depth knowledge of sport development systems in Botswana

-Proven ability in leadership, strategic planning, and programme management
