Internship opportunities are available with the City of Johannesburg’s Group Human Settlements Department for adequately qualified and unemployed graduates. The internships will last no more than eighteen (18) months.
Finance Internship is the title of the position.
Contract term: 18 months
R9 043,21 per month as a stipend
Responsibilities:
- To guarantee that budgets are produced and resources are allocated in accordance with CoJ priorities, housing business plans are prepared and in accordance with MFMA and related Regulations.
Objective To maximize revenue collection while minimizing accumulated debtor accounts in arrears so that the department has appropriate resources to maintain the rental units.
- To protect the CoJ’s assets in compliance with MFMA and relevant GRAP regulations;
- Participate in the service delivery procurement process in accordance with the MFMA, Treasury laws, and the COJ-approved SCM policy.
- Assist in attaining effective and efficient expenditure management in accordance with MFMA and CoJ policies, as well as eliminating or exposing unauthorized, irregular, unproductive, and wasteful expenditure.
- Assist with the CoJ year end procedure in order to receive a clean audit.
- To improve overall service delivery by facilitating internal communication, document flow approvals, and providing information in answer to requests.
Requirements:
- 12th grade/NQF level 4;
- A National Diploma or a Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or Auditing, or a related discipline.
