Overview:
We are seeking a Driver for an 8-month fixed term contract at our UPD Cape Town Distribution Centre in Montague Gardens. The successful candidate will be responsible for timely and accurate delivery of customer parcels, reporting to the Department Manager. This role requires someone with a strong attention to detail and the ability to handle time-sensitive tasks effectively.
Job Objectives:
- Ensure customer parcels are delivered accurately and on time along a designated delivery route.
- Perform pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and cleanliness.
- Verify stock in the dispatch cage for accuracy before loading.
- Handle necessary documentation related to deliveries.
- Follow proper vehicle loading procedures and adhere to company protocols.
- Maintain customer contact during deliveries to ensure satisfaction.
- Adhere to security procedures at the end of each shift.
- Ensure compliance with cold chain requirements and hijacking policy.
Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Team player with effective communication skills.
- Accuracy and good numerical ability are desirable.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- Grade 12
- Clean driving record with no traffic violations.
- Professional and neat personal appearance.
- A valid Code 10 Driver’s License.
- A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
