Job Advert Summary:
We are seeking a skilled ultra-heavy motor vehicle driver to join our team in distributing goods to various clients. The ideal candidate must meet specific requirements and be ready to undertake responsibilities ensuring safe and efficient transportation operations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare vehicle for trips and operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles efficiently.
- Load, transport, and offload goods ensuring safety and security measures are followed.
- Handle necessary documentation and perform ancillary duties as required.
- Adhere to all instructions provided by the Supervisor and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays, to meet operational needs.
- Maintain a safe driving record and possess a clean criminal record.
- Ensure vehicles, uniforms, and personal protective equipment (PPE) are properly maintained.
- Promote and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Successfully complete medical evaluations, training modules, induction processes, and practical driving evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with the National Road Traffic Act regarding vehicle loading limits.
- Oversee the offloading process and ensure goods are handled safely.
- Secure loads before departure and manage tarpaulins where applicable.
- Interact with customers in a professional and efficient manner.
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 10 literacy level (verbal and numerical).
- Possession of a Code EC driver’s license with a valid PrDP (DGP).
- At least 3 years of experience driving an ultra-heavy vehicle.
- Age 25 years and above.
- Willingness to work weekends, shifts, and public holidays.
- Proficiency in defensive driving techniques.
- Knowledge of vehicle components and emergency reporting procedures.
- Ability to conduct vehicle inspections and operate a fire extinguisher.
- Understanding of maximizing vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
- Familiarity with vehicle loading techniques.
