Project Overview

The Government of Lesotho, through the Lesotho Competitiveness and Financial Inclusion (CAFI) Project, is seeking a qualified Communications Specialist to join its team. The project, supported by the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank, focuses on enhancing competitiveness and financial inclusion in Lesotho.


Role Summary

The Communications Specialist will play a pivotal role in managing the project’s communication and media relations. This includes drafting press releases, producing articles and stories for print and electronic media, maintaining the project’s digital platforms, and engaging with diverse stakeholders, including women and youth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication strategies for the CAFI Project.
  • Draft and publish press releases, articles, and updates for various media platforms.
  • Manage and update the project’s website and social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Twitter).
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders, ensuring inclusive communication with women and youth groups.
  • Report on economic, business, and private sector-related issues.
  • Provide clear and concise articulation of project ideas and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguards in all communication materials.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Education: Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of professional experience in communication and media relations.
    • Proven experience in engaging diverse stakeholders, including women and youth.
    • Demonstrated ability to write press releases, articles, and stories for print and electronic media.
    • Experience reporting on economic, business, and private sector issues.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in drafting clear and concise communication materials.
    • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with digital communication tools.
    • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Sesotho.
  • Familiarity with environmental and social safeguards will be an added advantage.
