Overview

CMT seeks to hire an experienced driver based in Ekurhuleni. This role is ideal for someone residing in the area. Applicants must have an unendorsed, valid South African driver’s licence with driving experience, a valid PDP, and be available to start immediately. The driver will report to the district manager and must be capable of performing routine vehicle checks and selecting the most efficient routes. Exceptional service and efficiency are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Drive defensively to ensure safety.
  • Operate the vehicle carefully and cautiously.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, accepting responsibility for any traffic fines incurred.
  • Ensure the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use.
  • Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions before, during, and after trips, and submit monthly written reports on its condition.
  • Report any vehicle problems and ensure repairs are made.
  • Immediately report any vehicle accidents or damage.
  • Maintain an accurate vehicle log book to record work hours, travel time, and destinations.
  • Keep accurate mileage and repair records.
  • Manage the petrol card and vehicle keys.
  • Keep the vehicle well-maintained and clean, both inside and out.
  • Ensure the vehicle is safely parked, locked, and alarmed at office premises overnight.
  • Transport Ekurhuleni field staff to work-related meetings and events.
  • Arrive at destinations on schedule.
  • Run work-related errands.
  • Provide overall support to the team.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Matric or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid driver’s licence and PDP.
  • At least 2-3 years of driving experience.
  • Proficiency with maps, GPS systems, and car manuals.
  • Effective communication skills and proficiency in the local language.
  • Strong interpersonal communication in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to maintain a professional image.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Alignment with business values and willingness to cooperate with CMT staff.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • High level of accuracy.
  • Positive attitude and team spirit.
