Job Overview
Curro Heuwelkruin is seeking a dedicated and experienced Bus Driver to join our team. As an essential part of our support staff, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safe and reliable transportation for our learners. In addition to driving, this role involves various maintenance duties to support the school’s daily operations and uphold our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Learner Transportation:
-Transport students within designated routes, ensuring adherence to time schedules.
-Safely pick up and drop off students at specified stops.
-Transport students and staff for field trips, planning routes and stops as needed.
-Maintain order and ensure student discipline in line with school policies during transportation.
General Maintenance and Facility Support:
-Perform routine maintenance across the school facilities, addressing plumbing, repairs, and other maintenance tasks.
-Report any major maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager.
-Manage maintenance supplies and ensure tools are stored properly.
-Assist with security, access control, and traffic management across the facility.
-Maintain gardens and outdoor areas, including mowing lawns and tending flower beds.
Health and Safety Compliance:
-Conduct daily safety inspections of the bus and report any necessary repairs.
-Refuel buses and check essential elements like tires and batteries.
-Perform safety drills and attend meetings related to first aid and safety updates.
-Ensure the vehicle is kept clean for safe operation.
Record Keeping:
-Maintain mileage records, passenger counts, and other necessary reports.
Requirements
-Matric (Grade 12 certificate).
-Valid Code 10 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
-A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
-Strong communication skills and a professional appearance.
-Clear criminal record.
