Overview

The Department of Co-Operative Governance and Traditional Affairs is seeking a Driver/Messenger on a five-year contract to support the Office of the MEC. This position involves transporting passengers, delivering documents, and providing clerical support within the department.

Responsibilities

Driving and Transport: Operate light and medium motor vehicles to transport passengers and deliver documents and other items, such as mail.

Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on the assigned vehicle, including changing flat tires and cleaning the vehicle. Report any defects promptly.

Record Keeping: Complete and maintain all required logs and records related to the vehicle and the items transported.

Clerical Support: Provide clerical assistance, which includes tasks like assisting in the registry, photocopying, faxing, and collecting and delivering documents and related items.

Requirements

  • Education: A Grade 10 qualification or Standard 8.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7-12 months of relevant experience.
  • Skills: Proficiency in driving, basic vehicle maintenance (e.g., changing flat tires), and cleaning vehicles. Basic literacy in reading and writing.
  • Computer Literacy: Basic understanding of computer operations.
  • Driver’s License: A valid Code 10 driver’s license.
  • Location: Must reside in Gauteng.
