Job Overview
The Ministry for State President invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Deputy Director (Publications) in the Department of Information Services. The role entails leading and guiding the implementation of government information and print media strategies.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary Scale: E2 (P449,256 – P467,436 per annum).
- Leave: 30 working days per annum.
- Benefits:
- Optional contributory medical aid scheme through the Botswana Public Officers’ Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS), with 50% contributions from both the government and the employee.
- For members of other medical aid schemes, the government will also contribute 50%.
- Contract duration of 24 to 36 months, with a gratuity of 30% payable upon contract expiry.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 14 years of relevant work experience in journalism or a related field.
- At least two (2) years at the D1 level in Government or equivalent in parastatals or private sectors.
Key Responsibilities
-Oversee awareness campaigns on government programs and initiatives through the Botswana Press Agency.
-Initiate and review policies for the Department of Information Services.
-Guide the development and implementation of departmental strategies and annual performance plans.
-Ensure the development and implementation of policies related to news coverage, production, and publication.
-Develop and implement guidelines and standards for departmental operations.
-Monitor adherence to ethical and professional standards in reporting and publishing.
-Continuously review publication coverage and recommend improvements to meet public demands.
-Undertake any other related duties to support departmental goals.
