Join the dynamic team at Dis-Chem Pharmacies as a Dispensary Support Learner. This exciting opportunity aims to engage learners who possess the potential to successfully complete the Basic Pharmacist Assistant course.

This learnership program is designed to empower individuals with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles associated with the pharmaceutical environment and dispensing. It emphasizes the importance of high-quality on-the-job learning experiences.

Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances.
  • Assisting with call center scripts and handling patient service telephone calls.
  • Providing health-related information to individuals to promote well-being.
  • Supporting scheme authorization processes for chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication.
  • Reporting low or out-of-stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager.
  • Receiving dispensary stock following company SOPs.
  • Assisting in the unpacking and merchandising of stock, and maintaining dispensary and OTC shelves per the responsible pharmacist’s guidelines.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the Dispensary Manager.
  • Ensuring accurate picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medication, while being aware of common dosages and essential drug interactions.
  • Verifying that all medications are accurately checked and signed off by a pharmacist.
  • Following up with patients regarding script tracking reports and scheduled appointments as directed by the dispensary manager.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics (HG) and (Life Science/Physical Science).
  • Minimum average of 50%.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in English and a second language (read, write, and speak).
  • Strong time management and deadline-driven abilities.
  • Capable of handling pressure with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, including listening and customer service focus.
  • Problem-solving skills, a team player with conflict management capabilities.
  • Demonstrates leadership by example, accountability, professional conduct, trustworthiness, and honesty.
  • Computer literacy and numerical skills.
