Overview
First National Bank (FNB) is seeking a skilled Data Privacy Officer to provide expert guidance, advice, and support on data privacy matters. The role ensures compliance with applicable legislation and regulations, mitigating risks while enhancing and developing privacy processes and controls. Key Responsibilities
-Review and enhance customer data processes to ensure privacy compliance.
-Design and implement privacy rules and controls within business and technology operations.
-Conduct thorough reviews of systems and processes to identify and mitigate risks of data leakage.
-Advise on solutions and controls to address data breaches, working with relevant providers.
-Lead the adoption of enterprise and segment-level data privacy capabilities.
-Guide high-risk data management practices to ensure appropriate risk mitigation.
-Ensure compliance by analyzing data flows across various systems.
-Stay abreast of local and global privacy trends, sharing insights and best practices.
-Provide training and guidance to stakeholders on privacy tools, legislation, and processes.
-Support governance structures, including data privacy audits and committee reporting.
-Implement and maintain the FirstRand privacy framework, including policies, standards, and tools.
-Manage privacy risks related to third parties, information security, and incident response.
-Offer advisory services on data privacy laws, including POPIA and GDPR, and ensure lawful processing.
-Support engagement with regulators regarding privacy incidents and breaches.
-Monitor and report on privacy risk metrics, key risk indicators, and issues remediation.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in data privacy legislation and regulatory frameworks (e.g., POPIA, GDPR).
- Strong understanding of systems and processes involved in acquiring, storing, and transferring customer data.
- Ability to lead privacy risk assessments and implement privacy-by-design principles.
- Demonstrated ability to provide actionable insights and training on privacy matters.
- Collaborative mindset to work across teams and functional areas.
