Job Overview

FNB is seeking a Data Protection and Privacy Analyst to provide guidance, support, and expertise in data privacy compliance, risk mitigation, and governance. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that data privacy and protection requirements are met while aligning business processes with regulatory standards, such as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Key Responsibilities

Data Privacy Compliance and Risk Management

-Review, enhance, and implement business processes for acquiring and securing customer data.

-Identify and mitigate risks related to data privacy, data leaks, and breaches.

-Ensure compliance with data protection laws, regulations, and internal policies.

-Conduct privacy risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate identified risks.

-Drive the adoption of data privacy processes and capabilities across business segments.

-Monitor and enforce privacy policies, standards, and governance frameworks.

-Ensure the ethical and lawful processing of personal information, including data classification and retention.

Data Security and Breach Management

-Implement privacy-by-design principles in business operations and new projects.

-Establish and monitor data security risk management processes to prevent unauthorized access or misuse of data.

-Support incident response and data breach management, including regulatory reporting where necessary.

-Work with third-party vendors and suppliers to ensure compliance with privacy risk management requirements.

Training, Awareness, and Regulatory Engagement

-Provide privacy awareness training and advisory services to internal teams and stakeholders.

-Keep up to date with global and local data privacy trends, best practices, and enforcement activities.

-Support engagement with regulatory bodies and contribute to compliance reporting.

-Establish learning and development programs for data privacy subject matter experts (SMEs) across the business.

Governance and Reporting

-Support the FirstRand Data Privacy and Protection Centre of Excellence (CoE) and governance structures.

-Provide reports on privacy risks, incidents, and compliance efforts for informed decision-making.

-Monitor and track privacy risk appetite, risk metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

-Identify opportunities for business process improvements related to data privacy and governance.

Requirements

-Strong knowledge of data protection laws and regulations (POPIA, GDPR, and related frameworks).

-Experience in data privacy risk assessments, compliance monitoring, and governance.

-Expertise in data classification, data flow analysis, and security measures.

-Ability to interpret and implement privacy regulations into business operations.

-Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to assess data privacy threats and mitigation strategies.

-Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and educate stakeholders on data privacy matters.

-Experience in incident response, risk tracking, and regulatory reporting.
