Job Objective:

At our Ford Kempton Park branch, we have a lucrative opportunity for an LEVEL 3 APPRENTICE (MOTOR MECHANIC). This position is ideal for those who want to train and become a Motor Mechanic. We are looking for applicants to participate in all areas of the Apprenticeship program, including assisting in car repairs under the supervision of a qualified Technician, meeting MerSETA trade criteria, mastering level tests, and certifying in as little as two years.

Overview of the Position:

Participate in all areas of the Apprenticeship program, such as assisting with car repairs under the supervision of a Technician, meeting MerSETA trade criteria, mastering level tests, and certifying in a maximum of two years.

Role Specific Responsibilities:

The following are key duties and responsibilities:

  • Attend technical/level training courses as scheduled.
  • Assist with car repairs to acquire practical experience under the supervision of a technician.
  • Thoroughly prepare for level tests in order to qualify within the maximum 2-year timeframe.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards by keeping tools and equipment clean and in good working order, as well as keeping the work space clean.
  • Follow workplace safety regulations, guidelines, and processes.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties that may be assigned.

Experience and qualifications:

Candidates must have the following qualifications:

  • Passed Grade 12 with a minimum of 50% in Pure Math and Physical Science.
  • A valid driver’s license that has not been endorsed.
  • No criminal record.
  • Apprentice Level 2 Motor Mechanic proficiency with mechanical knowledge and exposure to technical abilities.

  • Ability to use manufacturer diagnostic equipment/computer to get information.
  • Physically fit for heavy work and capable of performing duties related to the role.
  • You enjoy working with your hands.
  • Capable of working in noisy situations.

  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and vehicle fault-finding abilities.
  • Mental acuity.
  • Excellent English communication and writing skills are required for accurately recording findings and work on job cards, as well as accessing repair information in OEM bulletins and online systems.
