Position: Forklift Driver
Job Grade: BL
Department: Engineering
Location: South Deep Gold Mine
Responsibilities:
As a forklift operator at South Deep Gold Mine, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of material cars to and from the shaft, adhering strictly to standard operating procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Forklift driver license
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a forklift operator in a mining environment
- Must pass a risk-based medical examination and Heat Tolerance Screening test conducted at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre
- Ability to cope with ambiguity, demonstrate resilience, and adapt to change
- Proficient in spoken and written English
Key Competencies:
- Proven track record of personal safety adherence
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
- Completion of machine appreciation awareness programme (O4R/M4R or equivalent)
- Strong problem-solving abilities
Duties:
- Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental practices
- Conduct pre-use inspections and report any equipment deficiencies
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on equipment
- Execute end-of-shift procedures, including equipment cleaning and reporting
- Operate forklift to transport material cars safely and efficiently
- Adhere to Surface Traffic Management plan as per mine standards
