Overview
Freightmore Pty Ltd is seeking a reliable and experienced Code 8 Driver to join our team in Durban. This position requires an individual with a professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining safety standards. The successful candidate will contribute to the efficient transportation of goods and ensure high-quality service in our logistics operations.
Responsibilities
-Safely operate and drive assigned vehicles, ensuring the transportation of cargo as per schedule.
-Assist in directing vehicles during reversing to ensure safety.
-Maintain constant communication with zone controllers using a mobile phone.
-Ensure that the vehicle is clean, both inside and out, at all times.
-Maintain the cleanliness and proper storage of tools and equipment used.
- Report any losses, damages, or discrepancies concerning cargo, equipment, and paperwork.
- Greet and interact with clients courteously and professionally.
- Adhere to all company policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- Education: Matric (Grade 12)
- Languages: Proficiency in at least two official languages is preferred.
- License: A valid driver’s license for at least 2 years is required. A PDP is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of driving experience is required. Experience with Volvo and Scania vehicles will be advantageous.
- Criminal Record: A clean criminal record is mandatory.
- Appearance: Must be neat, well-groomed, and maintain cleanliness of PPE.
- Additional Skills:
- Own transport is advantageous, as transport is not always provided.
- Basic computer skills are preferred.
- Must own a functioning cell phone.
- Prior experience in freight (approximately 5 years) is advantageous.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
- Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment polygraph test.
- At least two contactable references are required.
