Overview

Rand Water is seeking a Gardener to join the Bulk Water Services team based at the Central Depot in Johannesburg South. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing Rand Water’s landscaped areas and facilities through the use of horticultural tools, machinery, and equipment in a labour-intensive environment.

Key Responsibilities

-Perform general site maintenance of landscaped areas and facilities.

-Conduct cleaning, sweeping, watering, and planting activities.

-Apply fertilisers, mulches, and compost to promote plant health.

-Handle loading and offloading of goods, plants, debris, and equipment.

-Assist with decorations and setup for special events when required.

-Carry out grass cutting and vegetation control across Bulk Water Distribution reservoir sites and servitudes.

Minimum Requirements

–Grade 12 or N3 qualification.

–6 months’ experience in a similar gardening or landscaping environment.

  • Ability to operate horticultural equipment, including:
    • Brush cutters
    • Lawnmowers
    • Knapsack sprayers

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge:

-Safe use of hand tools and garden machinery (e.g. brush cutter, lawnmower).

-Basic plant care and maintenance principles.

-Understanding of basic safety procedures in outdoor and maintenance work.

Skills:

-Effective verbal and written communication.

-Basic horticultural and landscaping techniques.

-Awareness of safety and environmental compliance.
